Gusto GTR Sport TE Carbon Road Bike | 105 Di2
Pure speed. Precise control. All-round performance.
The Gusto GTR Sport TE is a modern carbon road bike created for riders who want race-ready speed without the uncompromising position or harsh ride often associated with pure competition machines. It combines a UCI-approved carbon frameset, Shimano 105 Di2 electronic shifting, hydraulic disc brakes, 50mm ATTAQUE carbon wheels and a fully integrated carbon cockpit in an exceptionally complete performance package.
Designed as an all-round race bike, the new GTR balances aerodynamic efficiency, climbing responsiveness, descending stability and long-distance comfort. Its higher-stack, shorter-reach geometry places the rider in an efficient performance position while reducing unnecessary strain through the back, neck and shoulders. The result is a bike equally at home contesting a fast bunch ride, climbing, descending, racing or covering long distances at speed.
Introducing Gusto
Founded in Taiwan in 2011, Gusto is a performance-focused bicycle manufacturer specialising in carbon road bikes. Although relatively new to many Australian riders, the company has established an international presence through its emphasis on advanced composite construction, competitive value and involvement in professional cycling.
Gusto formed and sponsored its own professional development team in 2014, creating opportunities for emerging riders to compete internationally. Among the most notable riders associated with the program is Tadej Pogačar, who rode with the Ljubljana Gusto team during the early stages of his professional career before progressing to the WorldTour.
This racing experience informs Gusto’s approach to bike development: efficient carbon structures, responsive handling and complete specifications chosen to perform in real riding and racing conditions. The GTR frameset is UCI approved for professional competition and is supported by Gusto’s lifetime frameset warranty, subject to the manufacturer’s applicable terms and conditions.
Advanced carbon construction with I.L.C. technology
At the centre of the GTR Sport TE is a frame manufactured from high-performance Japanese carbon fibre and incorporating Gusto’s proprietary I.L.C. vibration-damping technology.
I.L.C., or Innegra Latex Composite, integrates Innegra fibres and a specially developed latex material into the carbon lay-up. Innegra is a lightweight, impact-resistant technical fibre used to help manage vibration and improve composite toughness. Gusto combines it with high-rigidity carbon fibre to pursue two characteristics that are traditionally difficult to balance: efficient power transfer and controlled road compliance.
The frame is engineered to remain responsive when accelerating, sprinting and climbing while filtering some of the high-frequency vibration transmitted from coarse road surfaces. For the rider, that means a performance-focused bike designed to feel fast and direct without becoming unnecessarily fatiguing over longer distances.
All-round race geometry
Rather than adopting an extremely long and low position, the latest GTR uses a higher-stack and shorter-reach geometry. This allows a broad range of riders to achieve an aerodynamic position while maintaining a more manageable fit for regular training, endurance riding and long events.
Gusto has also positioned the bike’s centre of gravity to promote composed handling and reduced steering fatigue. The geometry is intended to deliver:
- Stable, confidence-inspiring descending
- Precise cornering
- Responsive acceleration and sprinting
- Effective climbing traction
- Reduced fatigue over longer rides
- A performance position that remains achievable for everyday riders
The rear triangle is tuned to support lateral rigidity under high pedalling loads while maintaining predictable traction when climbing or accelerating on imperfect surfaces.
Aerodynamic frame design
The GTR’s streamlined tube profiles guide airflow smoothly around the frame to reduce turbulence and aerodynamic drag. A wide-profile fork complements the frame’s aerodynamic shaping while providing the stiffness required for decisive steering and powerful disc braking.
Fully internal cable routing keeps brake hoses and electronic wires away from the airflow while giving the bike a particularly clean appearance. The integrated headset and purpose-designed spacer system complete the transition between the cockpit and frame while also helping protect the internal routing from water and contamination.
Fully integrated ATTAQUE carbon cockpit
An ATTAQUE one-piece carbon handlebar and stem gives the GTR Sport TE the appearance and aerodynamic integration expected of a contemporary race bike.
Its wing-shaped upper profile is designed to reduce frontal area, while carefully considered hand positions and grip angles provide control from the tops, hoods and drops. Carbon construction helps balance front-end stiffness with vibration management, keeping steering precise during sprints and fast cornering without producing an excessively harsh feel.
Internal routing through the cockpit and headset eliminates exposed hoses, creating a smooth and uncluttered front end.
28–32mm tyre clearance
The GTR accommodates tyres from approximately 28mm to 32mm, allowing riders to tailor the bike to their roads and riding priorities.
A 28mm tyre provides the responsive feel traditionally favoured for fast road riding, while 30–32mm options can provide additional grip, comfort and confidence on coarse Australian chip-seal, broken pavement and occasional maintained unsealed roads.
This broader clearance makes the GTR more versatile than a narrowly focused race bike, although it remains fundamentally a high-performance road machine rather than a dedicated gravel bike.
Closed front dropouts and thru-axle security
The GTR uses a fully closed front dropout design to create a structurally continuous interface around the thru-axle. This helps maintain accurate wheel alignment and front-end rigidity under hard braking, cornering and high loads.
The closed structure also reduces the possibility of accidental wheel disengagement and helps distribute forces more evenly through the fork ends.
UDH derailleur hanger
A Universal Derailleur Hanger provides consistent derailleur alignment and improved parts availability compared with many proprietary hanger designs.
The hanger is intended to serve as a replaceable point of protection during an impact, helping shield the frame and derailleur from more significant damage. Accurate alignment also supports the precise shifting expected from the Shimano 105 Di2 drivetrain.
Shimano 105 Di2 electronic drivetrain
The GTR Sport TE is equipped with a complete Shimano 105 R7170 Di2 12-speed drivetrain. Shimano 105 Di2 brings the speed, consistency and low-effort operation of electronic shifting to a highly practical performance groupset.
A light press of the shift button produces a rapid and repeatable gear change, with no mechanical shift cable to stretch or contaminate. The semi-wireless road configuration keeps the cockpit clean, while the centrally mounted rechargeable battery supplies the derailleurs.
A compact 50/34-tooth crankset paired with an 11–34-tooth cassette provides a broad range for varied riding. The 50-tooth chainring supports fast bunch riding and descending, while the 34-tooth inner ring and 34-tooth largest sprocket provide a suitably low climbing gear for longer or steeper ascents.
Drivetrain highlights include:
- Shimano 105 Di2 electronic shifting
- 12-speed drivetrain
- 50/34T compact crankset
- 11–34T cassette
- Fast and consistent shifts under changing load
- Customisable shifting through Shimano’s E-TUBE system
- Clean semi-wireless cockpit configuration
Shimano hydraulic disc brakes
Shimano 105 hydraulic disc brakes deliver powerful, predictable braking in dry or wet conditions. Their excellent modulation makes it easier to control braking force when approaching a corner or descending at speed, while the hydraulic system requires less hand effort than a traditional mechanical braking arrangement.
Flat-mount calipers maintain the bike’s clean lines, and the disc-brake platform allows Gusto to use the wider tyre clearances and rim profiles expected of a current-generation performance road bike.
ATTAQUE 50mm carbon wheelset
A UCI-certified ATTAQUE 50mm carbon wheelset gives the GTR Sport TE meaningful aerodynamic performance without requiring an immediate wheel upgrade.
The 50mm rim depth is designed to reduce aerodynamic drag during faster riding while remaining versatile enough for rolling terrain, racing and everyday training. Aerodynamic spokes complement the rim profile, while the hubs use two front and four rear bearings to support smooth operation and efficient power transfer.
The rims can be used with conventional clincher tyres and inner tubes or configured for tubeless use with the appropriate valves, tape, tyres and sealant. Tubeless compatibility gives riders the option of using lower pressures for improved comfort and grip while reducing the likelihood of traditional pinch punctures.
Wheelset highlights include:
- 50mm-deep carbon rims
- UCI-approved construction
- Aerodynamic rim profile and spokes
- Clincher and tubeless compatibility
- Two front and four rear hub bearings
- Designed to balance speed, stiffness and everyday versatility
Carbon seatpost and Prologo Dimension NDR saddle
A carbon seatpost complements the frame’s aerodynamic profile and contributes to the bike’s overall vibration management.
The Italian-designed Prologo Dimension NDR saddle is a short-nose performance saddle developed to provide support across a range of road-riding positions. Its PAS central pressure-relief channel is intended to reduce pressure and numbness, while variable-density padding supports comfort over longer rides.
Protective material around the saddle’s sides helps resist scuffing and abrasion, making it a practical choice for a performance bike intended to be ridden regularly rather than reserved solely for race day.
Aurora Nano Paint finish
Gusto’s Aurora Nano Paint, or ANP, finish uses a multilayer painting process to produce depth, metallic texture and a shifting visual effect under different lighting conditions.
A high-density protective clear coat is applied to improve durability, stain resistance and ease of cleaning while helping preserve the finish against normal wear. Depending on the selected version, the GTR Sport TE is offered in several distinctive treatments:
- Flux Orange: interlaced orange and red detailing for a vivid, high-energy finish
- Team Gold: a tribute to the Pogi Gusto Ljubljana continental racing team
- Pearl White: pearl-effect paint with contrasting matrix-style graphics
- Jet Black: layered obsidian black and titanium-grey tones for a restrained race aesthetic
